This weekend, Russellville Downtown will be abuzz with runners! It’s time for the third annual Russvegas Half Marathon, organized by the Russvegas Foot Race Foundation to benefit Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
This is a wonderful event no matter if you are a runner….
…or a spectator cheering them to the finish!
The event started as merely a road race, but has since grown into a festival, complete with a 5k Glow Run on Friday night, live entertainment, vendor booths and food trucks! With over 400 5k runners and more than 1,400 half marathoners, Russellville Downtown will definitely be lively!
Each participant will receive fantastic “bling”, a showy medal that can be worn with pride!
However, the real winners in this race are the patients at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. In 2014, the inaugural year of the race, the Foundation raised over $19,000!
The regular registration for the event has closed; however, one can register as an ACH Angel and still participate in the race. ACH Angels pledge to raise at least $150 in donations for the hospital, and, in return, are allowed to run the Russvegas Half Marathon for free! As of the first of April, ACH Angels have already raised more than $20,000, donations that will help treat those Arkansans who have faced illness or injury in their young lives.
The forecast for Saturday is sunny and warm, a beautiful spring day to get outside! Come join us! Gallery B will be open, and I will be cheering the runners on from my shop, including Kurt and Sabrina!
