Working in the heart of Russellville Downtown is so much fun! There always seems to be something going on downtown, whether it’s a parade:
a showcase of local artists
a festival that includes a chili cook-off and car show……
…..or Christmas festivities!
The downtown area is buzzing with activity!
Festivals and such aside, Russellville Downtown has evolved into a vibrant area, offering great dining and shopping. A visitor could come downtown and leave with a full belly, gifts, flowers, art, pottery, jewelry, haircut, a souvenir, and the satisfaction that he has supported small local businesses! I ask you, what could be better than that?
The big catalyst to this change is Main Street Russellville., its staff and volunteers, located in the historical Russellville Depot. These folks are dedicated, some of them working more than twenty years to achieve the goal of a revitalized downtown. Many milestones have been reached, and I am sure they are proud of their accomplishments. However, I know that they will not be fully satisfied until every aspect of their vision is attained.
Main Street Russellville is a non-profit organization, depending on contributions to keep running. One of the ways people in the River Valley, and beyond, can contribute is by attending Taste of the Valley.
Taste of the Valley is a wonderful event located at the Russellville Depot that includes numerous restaurants in our area, along with musical entertainment from six local bands. The event is scheduled for April 28th from five until eight, and it costs $25 per person, or $30 at the door.
At Taste of the Valley, you can sample many different types of food, including American, Italian, and Mexican. The desserts offered are absolutely delicious, and the background music provided by the local bands will be a wonderful accompaniment.
I’m very excited and honored to be a part of the organization of Taste of the Valley. It has always been, and is sure to be, a fantastic experience that supports a great cause.
