Russellville’s Fall Fest

Known by Main Street Russellville as “The Little Festival That Could”, Fall Fest has seen massive growth in its twenty five year history.  It truly is the collaborative effort of many citizens in the River Valley.  I look forward to this festival every year, where the streets are filled with many wonderful sights, smells and sounds.

It all starts with the annual 5k run.  With the smell of frying bacon wafting from the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast in the nearby American Legion Hut, runners will begin the flat, fast course in the chilly October air, hoping for a new PR.  Winners should expect to receive a commemorative Fall Fest cup.  My family has participated in this event over the years, and, well, I don’t like to brag, but we have a complete set!

When the last runner crosses the finish line….

..the bikes will start lining up for the Tour de Pumpkin, a race which takes riders by breathtaking views of both Lake Dardanelle and Mt. Nebo.

Exercise over;  time for the ever popular chili cook-off!  Nothing smells better on a crisp fall day than the savory aroma of chili.  Civic groups, church groups, and college organizations will all try their hand at winning the coveted “People’s Choice” award.

Long lines usually start gathering at 10:30 around the chili area because at 11:00, it’s time to sample!  Chili sampling kits sell for five bucks, and that includes a spoon, some napkins, and a scorecard.

With a full belly, the exploration of Fall Fest begins.  This includes some amazing vendors selling their handiwork.

The classic car show is always a big hit.  Car enthusiasts from all over the state will flock to our little downtown area to show off extraordinary pieces of automotive history.

The new stage at Depot Park will be humming with performances from fantastic local talent.

If that’s not enough, competitions that include a pumpkin dessert cook-off, pumpkin decorating, and a dog show will be both delicious and entertaining!

Gallery B/Kurt Jones Photography will also be participating with our Autumn in the Alley 5/5/5 special: from 9:00 a.m. til 12:00 p.m., customers can get a 5 minute autumn-themed photo session, with a complimentary 5×7 for 5 bucks!

More information and registration forms can be found on Main Street Russellville’s website. October 29th will be a great day in downtown Russellville, and we at Gallery B are privileged to be a part of it!
