Busch Gardens Christmas

When it comes to Christmas, we are a fairly typical family with fairly typical traditions: festive gatherings, holiday treats, a bit of gift giving and lots of seasonal music and movies!  However, a couple of years ago, we threw caution to the wind, and decided to forego convention for something a bit different.  Trading our boots for flip flops and our heavy coats and leggings for windbreakers and shorts, we headed to Tampa, Florida, celebrating the merriest of all seasons, in a very merry place:  Busch Gardens.

The weather was far from frightful, which meant that many plants, including the poinsettias, were thriving in the gardens, creating a holiday setting that would lift the spirits of even the most bah-humbug of Scrooges!

It seems that, on that particular Christmas morning, most folks were still nestled, snug in their beds, or perhaps gathered round the tree, opening gifts and drinking eggnog, which resulted in short lines on all the best rides!

The lovely, graceful flamingos, extended warm Christmas greetings to all who stopped by.

I think the tiger, though seemingly aloof, enjoyed the carols that resounded throughout the park; a melodious acclamation of peace on earth and good will towards all men…and animals!

Of course the joy and good cheer was absolutely contagious!  Heck, we didn’t even mind the photo bombing of our family snapshot!

Spending Christmas Day at Busch Gardens was an excellent decision!  The weather was superb, the lines were short, the animals were amazing and the gardens were breathtaking!  Amusement parks aren’t normally my cup of tea, but I would definitely consider another Christmas visit to this Tampa, Florida treasure!
