The hike to Crystal Mill is nothing short of spectacular! However, the trail is not really a trail at all…
but a five mile gravel road that is rough, single lane (in many areas), and only accessible by four wheel drive vehicles.
Located near the town of Marble, Colorado, it was a quiet escape from the more congested trails of Aspen.
The trek goes uphill for the first mile, levels off for a bit, then leads hikers through a series of rolling hills. Since this was our destination for the day, we took our time, stopping numerous times to snap a few shots, so the elevation gain of 2,300 feet didn’t seem strenuous at all!
It’s a trail that is loaded with amazing vibrant color and beautiful views, and, even though we backtracked after checking out the mill and Crystal Springs, the return trip was just as enjoyable!
